Evan Bishop, Photographer
Evan Bishop graduated from the University of Maryland in 1995 with a BFA, emphasis in photography and a minor in Art History. He began Bishop Photography in 2000 after a friend asked him to teach him to shoot. It was then that Evan realized that he wanted to begin working on his own, applying his photographic skills to the work and projects that excited him most. When asked why he began doing wedding photography Evan explains that wedding photography provided him the chance to create a business that connected him directly to the people he was photographing. “I enjoy getting to know a bride and groom, learning their story and having the feeling of being personally connected to them on their wedding day. It’s great to have the opportunity to do what I love and capture the moments and details that make each wedding unique.”
In addition to wedding photography, Evan has also developed a growing freelance photography business. In the past four years, Evan’s emphasis in documentary photography has led to several ongoing personal assignments, corporate portraits, and freelance work for such organizations and companies as the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Adventist HealthCare, and Budget Travel Magazine. He has traveled to New Orleans to document the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and is working with the University of Washington documenting the ongoing effects of the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill. |
